Technical Sales Manager - Scientific Equipment/Photonics

Company Profile

Our international client has been in business for over 10 years and they have just started to ramp up their sales and marketing efforts in North America. They are looking for their first US-Based sales person to join the organization to help them grow and scale direct and distribution sales throughout North America. They have primarily sold into research labs within academic and federal and defense accounts and can boast clients such as NASA, Stanford University and NIST on their roster of key accounts.

Job Description

Our client is seeking a Technical Sales Manager to build out their direct and distribution sales efforts throughout North America. Key responsibilities will be:
--This will be the first US based sales representative for the organization and ideal candidate must be entrepreneurial, comfortable wearing multiple hats, and working with a team in the UK
--Calling on and selling to research and development (R&D) teams and PhD professionals in academic research labs and the defense sector
--Building a base of clients and expanding and growing those partnerships as well as working with OEMs to get spec'd into projects


--5-10 years experience in a full-sale cycle technical sales environment
--Previous experience selling Photonics Equipment and Solutions required - Scientific Instrumentation, Lasers, Optics/Fiber Optics, Quantum Computing, Wavelength Applications, etc.
--Must have a minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics; preference for an advanced degree or PhD

Location: Candidates will have flexibility to work remotely in the Greater Boston Area with access to a sister company office in the Lowell, MA area. Must be able to travel about 25% nationally and 1-2x/year to the UK (once restrictions have lifted)
