Job Description

Job Summary:

This is a blended program management role with customer relationship and sales responsibilities. The Customer Relationship Leader ensures timely execution of functional deliverables to ensure customer satisfaction with established customers while performing sales outreach to existing customers to achieve a strong pipeline of new business opportunities. We are looking for a Customer Relationship Leader to create long-term, trusting relationships with our customers. The role is to oversee a portfolio of assigned customers, develop new business from existing clients and actively seek new sales opportunities.


Interpersonal Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with cognizant business leaders and management to ascertain organization capacity and capabilities in order to gauge viability of new opportunities.
• Collaborates with the internal sales efforts of the organization and utilizes Customer Service Representatives as a resource for customer insights.
• Communicates customer design or functionality needs and/or concerns and assists in developing solutions in collaboration with internal teams and subject matter experts.
• Interacts with industry and non-industry individuals, buyers, original equipment manufacturers, and maintenance experts to capitalize on the experience and contact base of others as a means of generating leads and building relationships.
• Engages with and maintains a positive relationship with regulatory agencies to elevate AVI to the forefront of consideration in the generation of new or re-engineered products.
• Encourages and seeks opportunities for collaborative efforts, seeks understanding of issues, anticipates and troubleshoots problems, and resolves urgent and ongoing matters.
• Champions the customer’s interests in promoting resolutions to design or contractual issues. Facilitates communication between internal subject matter experts and customers both pre- and post-contractual agreement.
• Portrays a positive, empathetic, and professional demeanor in all customer interactions.

Functional Responsibilities:

• Confers with department leads in Operations (includes Production Control, Sourcing, and Delivery), Engineering, Quality, and Executive Management (as required) to ensure the timely execution of customer-specific deliverables such as: Customer Inquiries, Quotes, Purchase Order Fulfillment (including Contract Review), Surveys, and Status Updates.
• Develops strong relationships with prospects and clients.
• Balances customer-advocacy with internal fiscal stewardship
• Creates and responds to Customer Correspondences, including but not limited to: engineering changes, delivery changes, DQAR, Case Records, etc; this includes proactive notification of production delays and requests for delivery changes.
• Ensures customer-related information is documented/ filed according to company policies and procedures.
• Expands sales with existing customers.
• Assists with the maintenance of a Sales Rolling Forecast and associated metrics.
• Assists Accounts Receivable to resolve invoicing issues.
• Performs Contract Reviews on orders, including the identification of variation between quotes and purchase order and the resolution thereof.
• Performs Purchase order entry and maintenance.
• Creates and manages customer-sensitive program plans, including the initiation phase of NPI projects, for assigned programs.
• Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Organizational Responsibilities:

• Assists in the development of the business model, understanding who the AVI customer is or could be, and presents recommendations on targeting potential new industries or product lines.
• Owns the customer satisfaction metric, including metrics for key accounts, and championing metric satisfaction throughout the organization.
• Assists with the maintenance of a Sales Rolling Forecast and the reporting of associated performance metrics throughout the organization.
• Owns the sales portion of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and the Contract Review (CR) process; collaborates with appropriate departments, and reports associated performance metrics.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering, or equivalent work experience
• Five (5) years working experience in a business or engineering role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional presentation and organizational skills
• Strong mathematical skills
• Strong command of contracting and contract language.
• General computer, software, proficiency

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Mastery of Microsoft Outlook Suite
• Three (3) years functional knowledge of Aerospace and Defense Markets
• Functional application of inbound and outbound of sales, including social media.
• Strategic thinker
